Yushan Sui was born in 1989 in the City of Shenyang, China, and started her professional piano lessons since her age of five. From the year 2008 to 2012, with the reward of full scholarship, she studied at Bowling Green University, which is known as “The Center of North America New Music”, and continued to improve her performance under the guidance of Professor Laura Melton. She participated in several concerts, competitions and music festivals during this period and received outstanding awards and achievements. Thanks to her hard work and excellent performance, Yushan was admitted to Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University in the year 2012, and started to study with Dr. Edward Orr, who has been recognized as one the world’s best expresser of Chopin’s work. During the two years of Master study, she continued participating in variety of concerts, perfected her performance skills and gradually formed her unique performance style. In addition, she also devoted herself to a large number of teaching and tutoring accompaniment activities and accumulated great experiences in piano education. In May 2014, Yushan obtained her master’s degree from Jacob’s School of Music and immediately began her career in piano performance and music education.
Yushan has many years of piano teaching and music education experience in both United States of American and China. Her teaching style is rigorous but lively, and she can provide guidance to students of all ages and levels. In additional to piano teaching, Yushan can also provide lessons of music theory, western music history, aural skill, ear training and other music related theoretical and practical trainings, which can help students to achieve comprehensive development of musical attainments. All Yushan’s lessons are bilingual in both English and Chinese, allowing students to explore the advanced western music education system in the early age and establish a good foundation for professional music training in the future.
