Lillia Olsen

Lilia Olsen, a Minnesota native and junior at CCPA is pursuing a degree in Clarinet Performance with John Bruce Yeh. Lilia particularly enjoys using music as a voice for current social and political topics. Recently she has used her “voice” in Sam Pummill’s Consanguineal Requiem, a mass for those who have struggled with mental illness; I will fly like a bird by John Plant, an opera about immigration; and this spring she will be collaborating with the Valkyrie Ensemble playing in an all female casting of Mozart’s Magic flute. She has always had a passion for teaching students of all ages privately, as well as in a classroom setting. She taught music this past summer at Hearts to Art summer camp for kids who have experienced the loss of a parent. When she is not playing or teaching, Lilia also enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring the city.
